Brewster Moore attended the University of Michigan, earning the freshman literature award and graduating with a bachelor's degree in English and psychology. Passionate about equity and justice, Brewster pursued higher education, attending Cornell Law School where he earned his juris doctor degree. Upon graduation, he spent the first part of his professional career working as an assistant prosecuting attorney, specializing in the prosecution of domestic violence in both Wayne and Oakland counties in Michigan. 

     While this work was important and rewarding, the devastating impact that domestic violence has on children took an emotional toll. Looking for more joyful days and personal connections, Brewster returned to his alma mater, Cranbrook Schools, where he has taught English for the past twenty-five years. Brewster says that while he is a teacher, it is just as true that he learns from his students every day. At Cranbrook, Brewster initiated a student newspaper, highlighting student experience, voice, and creative writing. Throughout his teaching career, Brewster has championed the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion. He chaired the Equity Committee of ISACS, a regional organization that accredits and advises independent schools. He also served on the school board for a charter school in Detroit, focused on educating students at risk.

     When not working, Brewster enjoys time outdoors with his husband and two Jack Russell terriers. A nationally ranked equestrian in his youth, Brewster continues to enjoy riding and training young horses, developing the trust and bond that is the foundation of all great relationships between people and animals.
