My Office Today is a nostalgic look-back of northern Michigan with Russell’s love for his hometown shining through each photo. Whenever there was breaking news over the past 50 years, you could count on award-winning photographer John Russell being there on the scene, camera in hand and ready to shoot. He has captured images of fires, floods, landmark court cases, visiting celebrities, U.S. presidents, spectacular sunsets, and Coast Guard rescues. Russell has long dreamed of putting his “best of” photos together in a book, and here they are along with a behind-the-scenes story for most of them. Russell’s memory is nearly photographic as he remembers the details behind getting the photo, including the generous folks who gave him access—often a helicopter ride—so he could get the best shot possible.
