Big Bubble, Little Bubble by Diane & Anna Hullet

A Book About Understanding and Caring for Our Feelings

Mother–Daughter Duo Brings Emotions to Life in Big Bubble, Little Bubble—an Engaging Book for Children

Traverse City, MI—As an educator, Diane Hullet knew the importance of reading to her young children. As a mom, she now recognizes she was not just instilling a love of reading but was nurturing a writer as well. Drawing upon their personal journey and experiences, Diane and her daughter, Anna, have published Big Bubble, Little Bubble with Mission Point Press, (February 17, 2026), a playful and empowering book for children.

Everyone has their own personal bubble. Sometimes it feels big and bright, other times, small and dim. Big Bubble, Little Bubble encourages young readers to explore their personal energy bubble to understand how everyday actions can shape their feelings. Vivid metaphors and whimsical illustrations support children in understanding their emotions and how the emotions of others impact them as well.

Sharing their experience, Diane explains, “As a child, Anna could be described as highly sensitive, and small and large things impacted her quickly. Imagining she had an invisible bubble around her that she could use to modulate what came in and what came out, helped her to talk about her experiences and how they affected her.”

A Family Project

Currently studying Elementary Education at the University of Michigan, Anna is passionate about the power of books to support social-emotional learning and understanding connections. “I see that kids of all ages benefit from better understanding their own feelings and the feelings around them,” she said. “A friend of ours who teaches third and fourth graders commented that the book’s language can give her a framework to use with students in her classroom all year.”

The road to Big Bubble, Little Bubble came about organically for the mother-daughter team. “The idea of a bubble became our shorthand way of talking about feelings. When Anna was in high school, we realized we could write a book to support children, teachers, counselors, and parents,” Diane shared. She goes on to acknowledge illustrator Kris Aro McLeod for her contributions. “Kris was recommended by Mission Point Press. We were complete author ‘newbies,’ and she brought her experience, keen eye, and charming art to the project.”

Advance Praise

Advance praise for Big Bubble, Little Bubble from Chelsea Walker Flagg, author of the Tinsey Clover series:

“Big Bubble, Little Bubble is such an important and timely book for kids! Not only does it describe what happens when we feel big emotions in a very tactile and clear way, it also paints the picture beautifully through its visually stunning watercolor illustrations. This should be a standard on every child’s shelf.”

The Authors

Diane Hullet has always loved stories—first as a child, then as a teacher, later as a mom, and now as a writer and podcaster. With an English degree from the University of Colorado Boulder and a master’s degree from Stanford University, she co-founded Two Wrens Press with her daughter in 2025. When not recording her podcast Best Life Best Death, she’s likely making something crafty with her hands.

Earning her Elementary Education degree from the University of Michigan in 2026, she co-founded Two Wrens Press with her mom to create thoughtful, heart-forward books for young readers.
