Traverse City, Michigan — Mission Point Press is proud to announce that Doug Weaver, Co-Founder of Mission Point Press, has been appointed to the Library of Michigan Foundation Board of Directors. In his new role, Weaver will serve on the Foundation’s Marketing and Communications Committee, helping to advance the organization’s mission of promoting literacy, preserving Michigan’s rich history, and supporting lifelong learning.

A seasoned journalist and publisher, Weaver has produced more than 400 titles on topics ranging from regional history to quilting. He holds an MBA from Rockhurst University and a BA in Journalism from the University of Illinois and has previously held editorial roles at the Springfield Journal-Register, Corporate Report Wisconsin, and The Kansas City Star. As publisher of Kansas City Star Books, he oversaw three imprints, including one of the largest quilt-book publishers in the United States.
Celebrating Knowledge, Literacy, and Michigan
At Mission Point Press, Weaver helped shape the company’s business strategy and cost management framework while guiding hundreds of authors through the publishing process. He continues to serve on the company’s Board of Directors and remains a co-owner.
“I’ve always advocated for literacy and lifelong learning,” said Weaver. “It’s an honor to serve alongside such dedicated board members at the Library of Michigan Foundation and contribute to programs that ensure access to knowledge and celebrate Michigan’s literary culture.”
Mission Point Press is also proud to note that John Wemlinger, a Michigan Notable Book author and Mission Point Press author, also currently serves on the Library of Michigan Foundation Board.

“Doug’s appointment to the Library of Michigan Foundation Board reflects his deep commitment to storytelling and community,” said Jen Wahi, CEO of Mission Point Press. “His passion for connecting readers and writers perfectly aligns with our mission to elevate Michigan’s literary voices and support a vibrant publishing ecosystem.”
